Entertaining with marijuana has come a long way from rolling up a few and power watching Adventure Time in a dorm room, or sharing bong hits in someone’s studio apartment while stoner metal streams through blown speakers. American pot culture has gone from counterculture cornerstone to burn-out teenager fuel to medical miracle and now we arrive at widely accepted method of responsible intoxication that pairs well with fine wines and gourmet meals.
Planning a get together around weed consumption gives you the opportunity to present different ways of consumption other than smoking or vaping. Perhaps one of our favorite ways to party with weed like fancy adults is to create nuanced, sumptuous cocktails for your guests that feature a touch of good old mary jane.
Weed cocktails can mean one of two things: a virgin drink made with a simple syrup infused with weed, or an alcoholic beverage made with the addition of a marijuana infused syrup or liqueur. We like both for different reasons, but here are our favorite three medicated cocktails:
Malibu Mule (Herb.co) — This refreshing take on a classic Moscow Mule employs a weed-infused simple syrup, a ginger syrup, a splash of lime juice, and as much club soda as your palette suggests.
Weed Sazerac (High Times) — This handsome cocktail requires a rye whiskey infused with weed, 1 glittering sugar cube, 2 dashes Peychauds Bitters, and a splash of flat water. Garnish it with a paper-thin twist of lemon and serve it over one huge ice cube for maximum effect.
The Melamine (The Cannabis Kitchen Cookbook) — This snazzy drink is a modern interpretation of the gin-based Bijou cocktail and features cannabis infused Chartreuse liqueur, Rhum Agricole, and a healthy dash of gran classico bitters (or Campari).
